abdullah and leilah

Abdullah and Leilah is a Wellcome Funded short film by writer/director Ashtar Al Khirsan and produced by Resource Productions. It is about a daughter and father with dementia at his care home where he does not speak the same language as the care staff.

I was hired for 6 months as a Science Communicator to screen the film with various Iraqi and South Asian community groups and talk to them about the issues portrayed within the film, including having dementia in the UK with english as a second language and some of the basic science behind dementia to dispel myths and encourage conversations.

Read more about it on the British Film Council Website.
